Day 21 – Positivity

Day 21, for me, is going to be about finding the positive in the world around me.

Today has been a very good day.  I actually slept a little over nine hours – only had to get up about three times during the night.  I wish it was easier to get the minimum eight hours.  At least I am now getting five or six as opposed to the four I used to get.  Baby steps.  Baby steps.

Negative:  I did not do my Total Sculpt Plus Abs workout today.  Positive:  I walked 3.75 miles with my fur babies.

On our walk yesterday, I noticed all the trash on the ground along the trail.  The snow is almost completely gone.  What was hidden by the snow is now very visible.  We walked to our normal turn around point.  I used one of the doggie-pooh bags to start me off.  I knew in less than one tenth of a mile I would be able to pick up a discarded Walmart bag.  By the time all was said and done, I had two FULL Walmart bags.

Talk about disgusted.  It still amazes me at how lazy and uncaring people are where the environment is concerned.  The Indiana Michigan River Valley Trail is a really nice trail used by so many people.  If the timing is just right, it is possible to see deer milling about.  The dogs and I have encountered a skunk (thankfully we were a very safe distance away!)  There are a lot of squirrels and chipmunks.  We really love walking on it.

The trash is the negative.  The positive are the people encountered.  No matter who I have encountered along the way, the other person has a smile, and will either say ‘hi’ or nod (dependent upon the activity engaged in).  It is tucked away between two busy thoroughfares, yet it is quiet and peaceful.

My food intake for the day has been good.  I went over the actual calorie goal by 182 calories.  I am OK with that.  Not every day will be spot-on.  I had extra to burn because of the walk today.  I’ve logged 11,500 steps for today.  Not as many as I would like, but more than the 10,000 goal.  I am chalking that up to another positive.

Day 21 is a SUCCESS!

  1. I bet you feel amazing after picking up the trash. I know it can be things like that which really give me a boost! Also, good job letting go of the extra calories, negativity will weigh more than them in the end.

    • We found the bag that got away from us and ended up filling it up today. I’m going to post pictures in my Day 22 blog. I have so many issues, sometimes it really is hard to pick which ones to work on first! LOL I have OCD. I am a compulsive shopper. I am a compulsive overeater. Food is my drug of choice. HOWEVER . . . Even though the list is long, I am working on each issue one step at a time . . . Baby steps! We are worth it! 🙂
